FreeWalkers has two fun local walks coming up. First is Sunday May 19 through ALL the Oranges (8-9 miles) and the second is a midweek twilight walk on Tuesday May 21 to raise awareness for mental health and well-being in our community (3 miles). May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and all of us at FreeWalkers are looking forward to spending the next few weeks raising awareness for mental health and well-being in our communities.
Walking can reduce stress, break up the monotony of sitting for extended periods of time, enhance your attention and memory, and improve your mood from exposure to sunshine and nature.
And speaking of nature, special thanks to David Ascher for sharing this gorgeous photo to help us kick off our new month. We invite everyone to join us on our many exciting walks happening this month. Please visit our website (Link in Bio) for more information.
Wishing you all calm and peaceful walking!!!
When the weather is gorgeous and there are steps to be taken… sounds like a job for FreeWalkers!
So many “thank yous” to everyone who made this past weekend such a success!
Extra shoutouts to @thebikingfireman and @unioncountyconnects for inviting us to participate in their Trails Day celebration. And of course to our fellow FreeWalkers Cory Storch (for coordinating a few extra Saturday miles from Cranford to Kenilworth), and David Ascher (for rallying Sunday’s group for The Big Walk — 50 miles from Metropark to NYC).
May is going to be a great month for us full of fun walks. Please visit our website (link in bio) to see our full calendar!
Two days, 38 miles, and countless steps, laughs, and memories! Oh, and one pretty incredible aerial group shot.
Thanks to everyone who made our FreeWalkers Weekend in Bethesda so special! We are already looking forward to our next journey together!!!

What a weekend! For those who frequently ask about our walks and what to expect, this weekend was the perfect example that no two FreeWalker walks are alike. Saturday’s Princeton walk was a remarkable journey through history, thanks to our amazing Charles Updike. Sunday’s Columbia Trail excursion was a stunning walk through nature coordinated by our fearless leader (and President) Risa Olinsky. Just goes to show if you think you can describe FreeWalkers in one sentence, we will make it quite a challenge!
Our walks are always unique, in different locations, different terrains, different people, and different distances.
Please visit our website to see what our calendar has in store for all of us (Link In Bio) — including this month’s Virtual Challenge and an upcoming weekend away next weekend in Bethesda for a magical 38-mile tour over two days (with shorter options available both days). Happy Trails!!!
Wow!!! When it came to his Earthly Expedition (FreeWalkers’ April Virtual Challenge), our one and only David Ascher did not disappoint with his gorgeous Waterfall photos!!!
There is still time to join us for our fun, free, and FAMILY FRIENDLY virtual challenge to celebrate being outside and appreciating our beautiful planet!
More information and registration can be found on our website (Link in Bio).
A HUGE thank you to Matt and Sarahjane Rath for leading yesterday’s Jersey City Mural Walk in such perfect weather! We had a great group of about 30 walkers join us, and look forward to continuing these fun and inspiring journeys exploring such beautiful art with our FreeWalkers Family!
What an incredible weekend for the FreeWalkers family!
Saturday’s group enjoyed a walk along the Forgotten D&R Canal Section and Raritan River. Thank you so much to Violet and Sam Chen for coordinating and for the beautiful group photo.
And thanks to David Ascher for the three gorgeous shots of some new friends we made during Sunday’s journey through Liberty State Park (which David coordinates once a month for anyone interested in joining us in the future)!
Gorgeous weather and fabulous company for yesterday’s 10-mile TRAINing walk from Madison to Maplewood. Special thanks to David Ascher and Risa Olinsky for coordinating such a fun day!
Let’s hope the weather continues warming up for all of our upcoming journeys together. Visit our website (Link in Bio) to learn more about our schedule and to sign up.
And yes you can still sign up for our Virtual Challenge as well — Five for Fifty for February!
Stadiums, schools, murals, armories, and more! So thankful for Violet and Sam Chen for coordinating a most inspiring Bronx Historic District Walk this past Saturday. Goes to show that there is always something to learn, especially on a day with FreeWalker Friends!!!
