We have two FREE sessions scheduled in partnership with Trek of Your Life and REI. Both May 1 & 2 sessions are FREE. Space is limited.

This speaker session which will take place in the community rooms at both REI's flagship store in SoHo/NYC (5/1 and at REI in East Hanover (5/2). Hear Sydney Frymire of Trek of Your Life talk about the trips she organizes to Nepal for both the adventure and good works. This the FreeWalkers' fourth year partnering with TOYL to provide a unique hiking experience you will not find anywhere else.

Imagine walking in the extreme foothills in Nepal along native village paths, with breathtaking views of the tallest mountains in the world, and the opportunity to experience an exotic culture, and meet native villagers and monks. Our presenter will discuss what the country, culture, and people are like in this unique area, and share what these adventure volunteerism tours include: professional guides, accommodations, food, and knowledgeable staff.

It's not a climbing expedition; it's a moderate "trekking" adventure across some of the most spectacularly beautiful places in the world. Rated as a moderate trek for people in good shape. The tour leader has been taking small volunteer groups to Nepal since 2011 and is involved in several humanitarian projects there, some of which you may experience during the tour.

Discussions will be about upcoming tours scheduled for 2018-2019 and other related cultural tours of the area. An Everest Region Trek, Oct 28 - Nov 14, 2019, is 18-day trip including Basa Village. The trek is on the old trail to Everest Base camp as far as Pike Peak Base Camp, one of the lower places to see Mt.Everest (8,848m). This trail is popular for the superb Himalayan scenery including the Mt. Everest as well as beautiful natural terrain filled with rhododendrons, magnolia, and wild orchid. There is even an option to extend your stay to do volunteer work. Here is an opportunity to see, understand, and even try out some of the arts, crafts, music, and philosophies in several villages.

If you would like to visit Nepal in the spring, learn about an 8-day cultural tour to discover the spiritual and cultural aspects of Nepal. In addition to sightseeing, optional meditation or yoga classes and hiking, there are opportunities to interact with arts, crafts, music, and philosophies in several villages.
