A heart-felt thank you to all who joined us in Alexandria, VA. It was an incredible weekend! This event was a combined fundraiser for both FreeWalkers and the East Coast Greenway Alliance. We raised over $2,000 and will donate $1,000 to support the organization’s mission in appreciation of their support over the past ten years.

We look forward to a continued partnership with ECGA, helping to motivate more people to walk from Florida to Maine. For more information visit: greenway.org.

WHAT'S COMING UP?

Saturday, May 14: We honor Mike and Anne Kruimer for their generosity and support of FreeWalkers. We’ve re-named part of our X-Jersey Challenge to The Kruimer Walk. Please join us for this special day and show your love for these valued Friends of FreeWalkers!

Saturday, May 21: The Big Walk is our 50-mile walk, the signature event that started FreeWalkers 12 years ago. The route traverses through several New Jersey communities and NYC. This is a walk where you can do as little or as much as you choose, or go the distance for the 50.

Saturday, May 28: The Philly Freedom Tour is designed and led by Charles Updike, an amazing historian and walk leader. He doesn’t simply lead a walk, he educates you along the way. Don’t know much about Philadelphia? This is a great walk to do and learn more.

Saturday, June 4: The Hudson River Loop will have you strolling the Hudson Greenway on the New Jersey side of the river, with breathtaking views of New York City, then walking over the George Washington Bridge — quite the experience — and down the west side of NYC as the sun sets. Join us for drinks following the walk at the Iron Monkey in Jersey City.

NEWS FLASH!

The KENNEDY50 is back and scheduled for Saturday, February 4, 2023. Watch for registration details and meet us in Harper’s Ferry, WV. For those who won't be able to join us in person, the Virtual Kennedy50 will still be an option.

Long-distance walking is physically and mentally demanding and yet, in the end, amazingly empowering.

You never know what you can do until you try. Isn’t this true about everything in life?

Risa Olinsky, President
