Comment by Risa olinsky on November 17, 2011 at 10:29am In the spring you and I and others who are willing will join us on longer segments on a regular basis, and we have to pay attention more to food with us. Also, strength training on our legs - -which you can do at the new club... core as well -
Me, the sticks really help as you know... but it takes a little getting used to -- the blisters - that I have to do more research on, as it is surely my limitation.
Comment by Amy Hebard on November 17, 2011 at 10:27am 40, huh? I need some tips how to prepare for that -- by 30 I seem to have hit a bit of a wall...is there any way to train for the longer stretch?

Comment by Risa olinsky on November 16, 2011 at 11:25pm What a beautiful way of remembering a great day -- I can't wait to do it again and bring more of my walking friends. this time I will wear normal sneakers - to avoid blisters! This was my first 30 miler and now that I have done 30 twice, the next is to do the whole 40 ... a great feeling of personal challenge and a beautiful way to get to know new and interesting people!- Freewalkers has brought a new kind of joy to my life .
Comment by Amy Hebard on November 16, 2011 at 4:31pm What, no closeups of Risa's blistered feet?! Oh well, there's sure to be another opportunity in 2012! This was one of my favorite of our walks -- the D&R canal path is so beautiful! Thanks to Paul and all the walkers who made FreeWalkers a reality this year!
