Did you know that there is an International Walk to School Day? It just occurred Oct 3rd and there was local participation in our nearby towns. Kids from the Montclair Cooperative School celebrated with students and parents marching up the sidewalks to school and will continue walking and biking throughout the month of “WALK-tober”. See Baristanet.com article for more.
Organized by the Partnership for a Walkable America, Walk to School Day in the USA began in 1997 and soon spread to other countries like Canada and the UK. This movement led to a related Bike-to-School Day in May. Each year thousands of schools in more than 40 countries worldwide celebrate walking to school every October. Visit the walkbiketoschool.org website for more details.
