There's a new breed of walking that's growing in urban environments where curious walkers experience anything from philosophical discourse to poetry and nature - both night and day.
Groups such as Elastic City in NYC recently presented a 10 hour, 8 mile walk on Fire Island as a part of a mission to revive “the ancient and endangered practices of walking and talking”.
The leader of that particular walk, Jon Cotner says, “I think these practices have largely vanished in our digital era, There’s far too much sitting. It’s killing us as a species.”
Anyone who has walked our FreeWalker events knows there's some truth to this. Walking and talking is not only natural but is a perfect environment to learn, teach, experience and imagine.
