High Hopes for the Harsimus Embankment: The Fight to Create an Elevated Rail-Trail in New Jersey

Credit those dedicated Harsimus Embankment volunteers, who have provided FreeWalkers with refreshing breaks for us on our two 50-mile Big Walks, and the Rails-to-Trails organization. The Embankment, the Jersey City version of the high line, may yet become a reality. At least things are looking up. For those who don't know the Embankment project aims to turn elevated land that once was used for tracks of Jersey Central Railorad into an elevated park that leads from Pavonia to the waterfront. Great idea that we all hope works out.

Here's the latest news on the project and some signs of hope!
