Just Another Reason to Walk: For Drivers Manhattan Isn't Built for Speed

It may be faster to walk instead of using that cab. Over a 12 month period the overall average speed in the city was 9.5 mph. Seems Weds is the slowest day on avg @ 9.3 mph avg, but Midtown avgs are only at 6.3 mph during the week. Weekends things flow faster. And mornings they can really speed up to 16 mph.average. Bikes & Hikes - Question: Can I do the NJ2NY50 on a Bike?

An email was sent recently that asked if bikes could be used for the NJ2NY50. The short answer is "Yes" in that the East Coast Greenway, where most of the ride will take place, is a multi-use trail designed to allow both bikes and pedestrians. However, it would be wise if cyclists convened at or near one of the scheduled stops and rode ahead - not with the walking group.
