Lenape trail

Hi everyone,

I would like to invite anyone that is interested to the Nutley museum this Thursday evening. We will be having two speakers. The first is a local artist and the second one will be Steve Marano who will speak about the Lenape trail.

For those who are not familiar with Steve, he is the one who spearheaded the drive to reblaze the Lenape trail in honor of the gentleman who originally did it over 30 years ago. Steve has worked diligently getting county and local… Continue

5 Days till WALK!

Ok, just drove my entire hiking route from Catskills - Home... Looks doable albeit ambitious. A little precarious for about 15-20 miles around West Point... Not a very friendly patch of road; nice and steep and not too much of a shoulder :\ Nonetheless jogged a couple miles today and feeling good! Tuesday up to and across the GWB!!!

My 22 mi or so

Of course, I cheated a little. I took a shortcut in Mills Reservation and laid down for a full 20 minutes waiting fro the group I left. What took you so long, Gary, et al?

I expected to drop off in Eagle Rock Res and walk home to downtown Montclair, but felt good enough to go almost to Brookdale Park.

Legs hurt on Tuesday, but fine since.

Thanks to all who planned and checked the route. ( Including me.)

WHAT A CRAZY NIGHT!!!

Wow, that was some trip yesterday! This was my first organized walk ever (outside of cub scouts with my son) and what a walk it was. From the first steps I knew it was going to be challenging especially when we started off at the base of what seemed like a mountain to me. I walked for the most part with my new friend from Nutley, lynn but along the whole way we were able to meet and speak with so many great people. I had never been to so many of the places that we were at and there was so much… Continue

What a great hike!

The Lenape 34 hike was a blast. Had a great day, at least until the rains came at 7:30 pm. Mike Patterson and I made it all the way to Penn Station Newark, arriving there at 8:00 pm, a bit damp but in great spirits. Thanks to all who contributed just by being part of the group.

Not aching too badly

Yesterday's event was fantastic. I made it about 28 miles, bailed at Clara Maas Hospital, right near Branch Brook Park in Newark. I met some great people, saw some great sites and had a blast. When's the next walk?

Target: Catskills 2010

Distant Thoughts

The Sounds of a Long Walk

Just a few days ago, I noticed, maybe for the first time, the sounds of the Great Canal Walk. For most of the 40 miles and 15 hours that day there was an absence of sound in this body of water as still as glass on that calm day....
