Flickr is a good storage area for professional quality, and controlled access. But it has some positives and some negatives.
I work with a Mac and use iPhoto mostly to prep images. I'm fairly well versed on Photoshop but I dont spend too much time on my general walking shots.
I view, edit and title photos in iPhoto then use the "Share" feature to upload to my Flickr.com account using a "Set" to define the group of photos. E.g., "Tween Walk 2012" and set to public view. Flickr will upload all the edited and titled photos from iPhoto so you dont have to duplicate the editing and descriptions.
Now, on freewalkers.org I use a service called ning.com that has some built-in features. The one that's important here is the Photos/Add+ feature. When you as a member go to Photos you can add either directly uploading from your computer or you'll see a "Flickr" feature that lets you upload a "Set" directly by just selecting it. Choose to upload the best version and only that set will added to the Photos.
I dont really know if you photo is sent or just a link to it is set. Either way it makes it easier as you can use the Flickr account as your database of photos and choose to set up photos to share as you see fit.
Now, of course, there's a downside to Flickr.com. They give you a free account but limit the number of pics and some quality features you can share. Basically, I found that if you have a large quantity of good photos you might need to spring for an annual membership which is something like $25 bucks or so. Check out the levels of service that seem right. There are other services that are like Flickr but FreeWalkers.org's upload feature kinda makes it much easier to use that one over the others.
Great day and I had a blast. I am curious about Metuchen.
I want to review the features for Flickr.com to see what options we have before we decide on the best approach. I should get to it later today and I'll let you know.
