40-mile walk from Trenton to New Brunswick - April 7, 2012 - (see last year's responses)

Walker Thoughts and Comments Suggestions
AGGIE DURAN I think all the support for drinks, fruit etc. was exceptional so was the support of the great man, who mind faulty mind forgets his name, meet us at different spots along the way by car & then bike. Loved him & his encouraging words & wit !! Keep it up! Great Walk.I
AL WALKER The support teams were great - Andy, Mike and EMS. It was all good.
ANDREA HONORE You guys did a tremendous job - both Freewalkers and East Coast Greenway. I enjoyed learning about both organizations. Will walk again.
BART JACKSON I was a little vague as to the meeting place - Since the train station is a rather general type of trailhead, you might want to have a few signs on the street. Your sag wagon & bike system was excellent - keep that.  The prizes & raffle was fun.  But more press is required.
BO HONORE At some level, they weather is the most important. But there is nothing you can do to control the weather. I think the event was perfect in terms of what can be controlled. Perhaps bigger maps with more details. They could be provided online before the meeting (to same paper).
CYNTHIA DEMMER I still believe that if the 100 mile walk was broken down into 4 equal parts it would be a better event. 25 miles is still a challenging walk and yet it doesn't cause physical pain.
DAVID ASCHER The D&R Canal Parks Commission needs to have better equipped porta potties and more of them.  We had to make an emergency pit stop at the Somerset Christian University because there were no public facilities for many miles before and after that location along the Canal (we did see johns across the canal near SCU but they were probably about 1/2 mile away..
DENISE DEVOE We had a great time.  We used this walk as training for ODH in Maryland.
EDWARD ADAMS great time. n/a
ERIC SLEEPER Well organized and enjoyed the walk
GLENN MARKULIN This was my first walk with the group and I was surprised at how well it was supported.  The snacks at the rest stops gave me the energy to finish the whole 40 miles.
ISABELLE LECUN It was my first time and I had a wonderful time.  The people were very friendly and the organisation was great.  The food and drinks were greatly appreciated. Everything was perfect.
JAMES W BROWN It was a good experience just sorry I couldn't make it farther None
JANINE POLLAK Just someone at the finish line or someone at the end of the tow path to direct u to the train station
JEN WOOLERY I really had a great time.  I think when you specify lunch break on the schedule it should be indicated that it is a "bag lunch" sort of thing because in my mind I was picturing that there was a place to buy some food and only brought granola bars.  But the snacks provided along the way were great and very much appreciated.
JOHN DEMMER Would like to meet and leave as early as possible
KAREN ROSE TANK So exciting to share a day of walking and talking with others... new friends and old. What I loved was that I could enter and leave at points appropriate for my body and schedule. Fabulous and FUN support along the way! I even won one of the raffle items!!! An awesome double water bottle fanny pack... thanks to Blue Ridge Mountain Sports for the donation. I love it! support is incredible!  The group got very spread out... I would have liked to meet more of the walkers.
KENNY NOCK Great physical activity and a nice way to meet other people in the community. The walk was well organized and thanks for the snack and water. It came in handy. A better route map. Some people was confused on which way to go in certain part of the route.
MICHAEL DEVOE A great, local, well organized walk on a perfect Spring day.  We could not have asked for more.  As the popularity of the organization and walk matures, we look forward to contributing to the groups success. For us, the idea of doing a customized training walk of 22-23 miles within the overall challenge was perfect.  We liked the idea, and the overall theme that there was no pressure to walk the entire distance.
MIKE PATERSON This was a well planned, well executed event. Thanks.
PAUL KICZEK Great event. Probably better than last year. Support was outstanding and vendors added to the positive enthusiastic feeling. I really enjoyed talking with Congressman Holt. The new paved section of the trail near the end was an unexpected pleasure. none at the moment.
RISA OLINSKY Everything was just right - even the weather that Paul ordered… perfect.
RON PALOCHKO Fantastic support and organization.
TODD C WHITE Would recommend since most American walk a 10th a mile a day. Just continue growing
VINCE PALOCHKO Adding the sponsorships was great - I really enjoyed the refreshments at our designated break stops.. Really gave me something to look forward to and to re-charge.

The Sounds of a Long Walk

Just a few days ago, I noticed, maybe for the first time, the sounds of the Great Canal Walk. For most of the 40 miles and 15 hours that day there was an absence of sound in this body of water as still as glass on that calm day....
