The TRAINing Walk: Morristown to South Orange
You can take the train to Morristown and walk over to Panera’s nearby.
Celebrate 2018 by challenging yourself with a 15 mile walk (or less) through the historic towns of Morristown, Madison, Chatham, Summit, Short Hills, Millburn, Maplewood and finishing this year in South Orange at South Mountain Tavern (Snug downstairs) 19 Valley St, South Orange, NJ.
FreeWalker events are supportive, relaxing and not competitive. If you’ve never walked with us, this is a perfect walk to start with. You can do as little or as much as you choose and hop on a train along the way. Train stations are about 2-3 miles apart in each town, so you can hop on if you choose. NJ TRANSIT Midtown Direct runs once an hour in both directions at various times, so check the schedule ahead of time. If you’d like to do a piece of the walk and need help figuring out how and where to meet up with us – just ask. Thank you to both the beautiful Georgian Mansion at 205 Madison Ave. (formerly Bayley Ellard HS) and Madison Honda at 280 Main St., who are welcoming us to stop in for complimentary coffee, snacks and restrooms. There are other stops along the route as well to warm up and use restrooms.
FreeWalkers is a 501c3 organization that prides itself on helping other community organizations as well. This walk will help support www.imprinthope.com, an international organization helping to fund healthcare for children with disabilities in Uganda. Donations are welcome, but as always the walk itself is FREE!
