Join this new FreeWalkers 16-mile walk from Van Cortlandt Park to Battery Park. We will be hiking some of the best greenway trails in NYC, including the East Coast Greenway and the Hudson River Greenway.
We'll start at 9:00 am at the Boadway & 242 St stop of the MTA train - the last stop for the #1 train. If you are coming from the city, allow about an hour ride from the World Trade Center on the #1 train, with trains running about every 15 minutes. The event is FREE, open to everyone. You can also join us along the way or drop off for a shorter walk. See the schedule.
The NY Greenways Walk is a part of the East Coast Greenway Alliance's 25th Anniversary Celebration called the "East Coast River Relay", The River Relay is a series of events, from August 24 to October 30, that cover the entire nearly 3,000 mile route along the East Coast from Main to Florida. FreeWalkers are organzing this 16-mile walking event in support of the River Relay culminating with a meeting of environmentalists and a social gathering at Pier A Harbor House. You are invited to join in the fun.
