Join other FreeWalkers and volunteers and help maintain one of our most beloved trails, the Lenape Trail. We have been hiking this 34-mile challenging trail for the last eight years at our fall Lenape34 event (Lenape34.org). Its a supremely challenging route that snakes around much of Essex County.
Currently, the Lenape is being re-routed in the Caldwell area to take advantage of Hilltop Reservation. The trail has been largely cleared but proper signage is needed along with other maintenance tasks. The current effort requires only one day's work but maintenance of many sections of the trail require ongoing observation and maintenance.
This is a great way to volunteer your time and help the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference maintain the trail for all of us to enjoy.
The work this time is light and will help finish this new section for all to enjoy in the months ahead. This is also a good way to try volunteering. No tools or special skills required. Bring a bottle of water.
