NOTE: Starting point is same as last year:
Take the 1 train to 231st Street as noted below and walk 4 blocks west to the entrance plaza of Ewen Park at 231st Street and Riverdale Avenue (along our planned route). We will have someone posted at MTA 231 St stop to point the way.
This 16-mile walk starts at the NW corner of Broadway and West 231st St at the W 231st St. stop of the #1 Train at 9:00. We will then head west towards the Hudson River and walk along a rural road that's the westernmost avenue closest to the river, or walk through the woods on Riverdale Park.
We will go to a tiny, hidden park, up to the Hudson. There's the famous Wave Hill mansion, home to many notables like Mark Twain.
Along the way we'll pass the Russian Compound, owned by Russia. We'll make our way to Van Cortland Park and follow the path of the East Coast Greenway. Along the path we'll pass a beautiful lake in the park.
We'll make our way to Pelham Parkway to City Island where we can eat aJohnny's Reef Restaurant.
